What’s the difference between women who pass the interview and get listed in the Standard class, and those who unfortunately fail because of their looks…?

Regarding Maezawa’s “luck”—I see, that makes sense. > If you look through the listings, you’ll probably find plenty of women and wonder, “Why is she in this class?” I can understand that too. I often feel that it probably comes down to the interviewer’s personal preferences. Honestly, I have my own type as well, so I don’t find Aya Ueto, Ayame Goriki, Yukie Nakama, or Anne attractive at all. I wouldn’t want to go on a date with them. My type is more like Satomi Ishihara, Yuko Araki, Mizuki Yamamoto, Minami Hamabe, or Nao Matsushita. When it comes to “luck,” I also feel that whether you end up meeting someone on your first date is a major matter of luck.

You may feel that’s unfair, but sometimes that’s just how things work. This isn’t limited to Universe; I think luck plays a role in many different situations. For example, when a woman comes in for an interview, she usually has a scheduled appointment. But sometimes something comes up and we have to ask, “Would it be possible to move your appointment back by an hour?” If she had come at the original time, I might have conducted the interview. But because the time was changed, she may end up being interviewed by a stricter staff member instead. When she first arrives, I might think, “Oh, she could probably qualify for Gold.” But after the interview with the stricter staff member, she may be told, “Unfortunately, you weren’t accepted.” If she had come at the original time, her appearance alone might have been enough for a Gold registration—though she could still be placed in Standard depending on the interview. It really does come down to luck. Of course, the opposite happens too. Someone may be late, causing the interview to be reassigned from a strict staff member to me, and then she ends up being registered. People may say, “There must be standards,” and there are. But male members probably understand that those standards can vary. If you look through the listings, you’ve probably seen plenty of women and wondered, “Why is she in this class?” A meeting here might even change someone’s life, so I understand that it may not feel fair. Unfortunately, situations like this will probably continue to happen. There’s a saying that luck is part of ability, after all. That said, women who are clearly going to be registered as Black or Platinum from the start aren’t affected by this kind of interview luck. No matter which staff member interviews them, they’ll be registered.

There might be quite a few women like me who think, “I’m not wanted here 😭,” and apply to leave. “Ignorance is bliss.” That phrase really applies here. I’m Date◎Yume, a male member. I agree with Basil’s opinion here as well. Since “looks” is a relatively neutral term, I think they’re using it as a general catch-all for overall appearance.

I’m a male member named Basil. Someone said something similar before, but my understanding is that Gold members aren’t at the very top of the classes, though they’re in the upper tier, while Standard members are around the middle. Is the dividing line simply a matter of the interviewer’s personal preferences? The overall average may be lower, but there are some lovely women whose profiles make you wonder why they were placed in Standard. Also, while looks may play a role in why someone is rejected, isn’t the main reason usually a problem with their attitude during the interview?
