Question

I recently tried to attend an interview here, but unfortunately I was involved in a traffic accident on the way and had no choice but to cancel the interview... After the accident, I explained the reason for canceling and apologized by phone and email. I’m thinking of applying for another interview, but could a cancellation like this affect whether I’m accepted or rejected...? I’d appreciate it if someone could let me know.

Maezawa from the Business Planning Office here. A single cancellation will not affect the outcome of your interview. However, there is a possibility that a comment may be added saying something like, “They came after canceling once.” To prevent that, if the reason was a traffic accident, I recommend obtaining an official certificate from your prefecture’s Traffic Safety Driving Center. That way, the staff will know that the traffic accident really happened, and I don’t think they will write anything unfavorable about you.
