I’m Paper Airplane, a male member.
Because I used to organize events, female managers at clubs and esthetic businesses catering to male customers sometimes ask me to help with interviews, saying, “Since we’re women, everyone looks cute to us.” So there are times when I interview four or five women in succession, for about an hour each, in a single day.
In those cases, I decide whether to accept or reject someone within three seconds of meeting her.
As we walk a few steps together, I judge her based on her face, figure, and overall vibe.
If I think she’ll be rejected, we head toward Komeda Coffee and conduct the interview there for about 20 to 30 minutes. Very few women have ever changed my mind and been accepted after that.
If I decide to accept her, we head in the opposite direction to a café in a city hotel, where I conduct a more relaxed interview and explain everything up until her first day at work.
Since the question specifically says “definitely,” anyone who is clearly guaranteed to become the most popular No. 1 can be identified immediately—her looks are that exceptional. At Universe, she would undoubtedly be popular even in Black—in fact, perhaps even beyond Black. Someone like that can be recognized instantly, even from a distance. Maybe one in fifty.
On the other hand, about one in ten end up being rejected. I go into the interviews expecting to reject around 30%, but I was surprised that so many of the women who came in seemed fairly confident and had pleasant personalities.
I imagine that the women applying at Universe are also reasonably confident, so at branches outside the Kanto area, perhaps almost everyone except those with serious shortcomings gets accepted?
I could identify only about 20–30% of the women who were sure to become popular.
Among the remaining 60–70%, I had absolutely no idea which ones would end up in the top 40–50% in terms of popularity.
I hear that Universe’s offer rate is around 50%. Perhaps you can identify about half of those 50%, but have no way of predicting which of the others will receive offers. That seems fairly close to my experience.
So, in the end, I suppose it’s inevitable that around 40–50% receive no offer.
Also, although I said I decide within three seconds, I don’t make the decision based on my personal preferences. I judge whether a woman will be well received by men, even if she isn’t my type.

She’s the kind of woman who, just by the way she looks, is guaranteed to get offers.
