Are there any plans to hold the matchmaking party Mr. Maezawa mentioned in Osaka or elsewhere in the Kansai region? I’d love to attend!

I’m Paper Airplane, a male member. I hope you find a wonderful marriage partner. This was quite a long time ago, but I used to organize matchmaking parties, so I’d like to share some examples of people who actually ended up getting married. There were all kinds of parties, from casual ones where women attended for free to parties where, unlike dating clubs, women paid even higher membership fees, dues, and participation fees than at a club, while men could attend for free as often as they liked. A common pattern among women who got married was that they happened to attend their first—or nearly first—party, paired up with a man, and eventually got married. As for the odds of getting married, it’s hard to say that one type was better than another. From casual parties to exclusive, high-end member-only events, the chances were low across the board, but they did exist. At parties where women paid high membership fees and men attended for free, the screening for male participants was even stricter than at a club, which does provide some peace of mind. However, although the men may be open to marriage, they’re also attending for free and may simply be going out of curiosity or treating it like a group date with friends. Unless a woman is exceptionally attractive, she may receive little attention. Men generally tend to avoid women who approach them mainly because of their job or financial status. Many men even concealed their professions and incomes, and preferred to attend casual parties where the women’s participation fees were low or free, while the men paid relatively high fees. In fact, there were quite a few cases where women at these no-terms-disclosed parties ended up marrying wealthy men. As a strategy for matchmaking parties, whether you attend casual events or high-end member-only ones, I think it’s best to limit yourself to attending each party only once or twice at most, and to try different parties without becoming too attached to any particular one. Regardless of the type of party, regular male attendees often make up a significant portion of the crowd. If you attend too many times, people will quickly remember you, which can become awkward and make it harder to continue participating. You might think, “But if I don’t know their professions or incomes, how would I ever know if I’ve met such a wonderful man?” However, if you’re attractive enough to be the most popular woman at a party, you can meet a man with excellent qualities even at a casual party, and some women have gone on to marry men like that. There are also plenty of players at these parties, but many of them tend to target women who seem like safe bets and avoid women they feel are out of their league. Men who attend without revealing their professions or incomes have no reason to lower their standards at a casual party, since parties with high women’s fees are full of beautiful women anyway. So they often go after the most popular woman. Ordinary men, on the other hand, usually won’t pursue a woman they think is out of their league and will try to pair up with someone more suitable. As a result, the most popular woman may ultimately be approached by only a small number of men—and one of them could turn out to have excellent terms. That said, men often conceal their professions and incomes, so if you get too greedy, things probably won’t work out at all. If you’re attending for the first time—or are still relatively new—and you’re attractive, you may be able to start a smooth relationship with the kind of man you’re hoping for. Some women are calculating and deliberately make things develop that way, while for others, everything simply happens to work out by chance.

This is Maezawa from the Corporate Planning Office. Tokyo is still getting off the ground, so we don’t have any plans at the moment. If things go well in Tokyo, we’ll naturally consider holding one in Osaka as well, but for now, it’s still too early to say.
