While chatting in bed last night with a woman who stayed over, she told me that a man is at his prime between 52 and 55. At 46 or 47, apparently there’s still too much restless energy left, so you’re not fully mature yet. At 42, you still look completely green and like a kid. Hearing her say that made me realize she might have a point. For me, 52 to 55 was indeed the time when I had learned my own limits and started looking around me instead of always looking upward. Maybe that comes across as kindness and emotional generosity? By the way, when I said that at 60 I was probably a little past my prime, she told me that there are big individual differences at that age, so I was still fine. What a relief.
