So if you want to be careful, I think it’s best to approach it with the mindset of not touching your phone at all. You may find yourself checking it out of habit, but women who seem well-mannered generally don’t check notifications at all during a date. As for taking photos of the food, I think it should be fine as long as you ask politely, “May I take a photo?” before doing so. However, some people may still find it bothersome, so it might be a good idea to casually gauge during the conversation whether he’s the type who minds that sort of thing. I assume getting up during the meal would be to use the restroom. I don’t think you should hold it in, so it might help to say something in advance, such as, “I get nervous sometimes…” to set expectations.
