If you’re receiving a decent number of offers and wouldn’t be too upset about parting ways with one person, I think you’d be happier if you didn’t force yourself to put up with it and simply ended things.
If you’re not getting many offers and want to value your opportunities to meet men, you’ll need to be prepared for the possibility that things may end, but I think it would be best to be honest with him.
That way, he may take various measures to address the issue. He might even go to the hospital to get treatment for his bad breath.
However, there’s a good chance he’ll stop being careful after some time has passed, even if he makes an effort at first. So if you feel he’s letting his guard down, you may need to point it out to him again.

Not that I’m trying to pile onto Mac’s story, but yesterday at Universe, I happened to be paired with someone who had the worst odor down there I’ve ever encountered, so I spoke with the staff about it.
They said they hadn’t received any similar complaints from anyone else, which made me think:

Since you can’t really say this to him, I think the best option is to stop seeing him.
It sounds like he’s a man who doesn’t take care of his breath, so I doubt you’ll be able to put up with it.
For men, I think taking care of your breath should be a rule once you’re in your 40s—especially if you’re joining a club.
