I’m guessing “したことがなく的になりました” was a typo for “したことがなくて、気になりました” (“I’ve never done it before, so I was curious”). At first, though, you do wonder what “的” is supposed to mean.
If you’ve always waited until the other person asked, I think it’s fine to continue doing the same. I doubt many men would be dissatisfied with that.
