Shouldn’t male staff give their input on the selfies posted by the women who register? I often find myself thinking, “Can’t someone do something about this?” when the photos are actually having the opposite effect.

Maezawa from the Corporate Planning Office here as well. Selfies are meant to be photos the woman herself likes and wants to upload, so I don’t think there’s any need to advise her on them. I also think one of the purposes is for men to judge whether they’re interested in a woman based on those photos. There are women whom even the staff think would have received offers if they hadn’t used selfies. But sometimes a photo works precisely because no one gave her advice, so I feel it’s better not to say anything. As for wearing glasses in a reshoot, I think the staff would probably advise against it too. Glasses reflect light quite easily, which limits the angles you can shoot from and makes it difficult to take a good photo. Also, while some people look good in glasses in person, very few of them look good in photos wearing them. This is similar to the issue with selfies: the photos you think look good and the photos men think look good aren’t necessarily the same. So I imagine the staff probably wouldn’t include that kind of photo in the professionally taken pictures, but I’d be very curious to see how they handle it, since they probably wouldn’t want to get into an argument with the woman. Since selfies are up to the woman, perhaps she could simply upload a photo of herself wearing glasses there.
