Columns about gifts keep getting hit by backlash and sparking controversy, but aren’t flowers the best thing to give a woman?

I’m Saito, a columnist♪ Whether it’s clothing or flowers, having the item alone isn’t enough. If you buy an outfit, you need to find places that suit it. If you buy flowers, you go out and buy a vase. Once you have the vase, you learn how to arrange the flowers. That’s how a woman broadens her horizons. papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) is much the same—it’s like a continuous line. If you look at each point separately, things won’t quite fit together.

I’m Paper Airplane, a male member. Since flowers aren’t really a main gift but more of an extra, I think they’re probably the safest—and most appreciated—choice. I’ve also heard from a girl who joined the club that flowers were the only gift she genuinely liked. However, she said it was a one-time arrangement, so they didn’t have any effect. Whether through a club or otherwise, we give thoughtful gifts to make our partners happy. But at a club, women usually have to summon the courage to clearly express things that are difficult for them to say—namely, their wishes regarding the allowance. So I think it’s important to respect those wishes when deciding on the allowance and gifts. I sometimes wonder whether a gift that’s really just a man’s self-satisfying form of masturbation is rude, since it doesn’t genuinely respond to the woman’s efforts.
