I have a question about how the club handles male members with very poor reputations among women.

I’m Datemaru Yume, a male member. I agree with Paper Airplane that one of Universe’s biggest strengths is how openly they make all kinds of information available. I used to think dating clubs sounded kind of shady, but aside from the relatively high membership fees, I’ve had no concerns, and their service and support have been good. As for dealing with male members who are eager to pursue a relationship, it’s a difficult issue, much like female members misrepresenting their relationship type. I suppose the best we can do is prevent mismatches by including comments such as “closer to B than A” or “open to pursuing a relationship after dinner,” so people don’t get caught up in the same kind of situation repeatedly. As long as both men and women understand and agree to the terms, there shouldn’t be a problem, right?

If the behavior still doesn’t improve, we issue a formal notice. That notice is a serious one: if we receive another similar complaint, the member will be forcibly expelled. And if another similar complaint does come in, they will be expelled. Expelled members will not receive a refund of their membership fee. We also make a point of gently informing women in advance if a man has a history of this kind of behavior. I believe only around ten members are forcibly expelled each year. But in a way, that shows just how serious it is to be expelled despite having gone through the steps above and still being given a chance to avoid it. That said, secretly filming someone, drunk driving, or driving under the influence results in immediate expulsion after just one incident. If you believe you’ve been secretly filmed, please take any evidence with you and report it to us. Doing so can help prevent other women from being victimized as well.

I’m Hikouki, a male member. If you can’t trust the club, perhaps you should consider leaving? It seems you may be taking for granted the fact that all the questions and answers up to this point have been made public. At the same time, I think the fact that they’ve been so open is one of Universe’s strengths. If you can’t understand that—or even appreciate it—you may not be someone who needs to join the club in the first place. I’m sorry for commenting even though I’m not a staff member. When it comes to clubs and relationships between men and women, anything is possible, and I believe you can only truly enjoy them once you accept those contradictions as well. Why not leave that delicate balance to the club and enjoy yourself?
