Yesterday, I sent brief New Year’s greetings only to people I’m close with, and they replied right away.
I didn’t send anything today because I thought messaging them two days in a row might be annoying. Then one of them just sent me a “Happy New Year” message, so I replied immediately.

A girl I’m close with will message me right after New Year’s, and whichever of us sends the first message, we’ll probably be chatting within 30 minutes of the new year.
With someone I’m friendly with, we’ll probably exchange messages on New Year’s Day!
And with someone we’re still hoping to get closer to, we’ll both be considerate, but we’ll still message each other within the first three days of the year!
