I have a few questions about contacting female and male members. I mainly have three questions. ① When I’m meeting someone for the first time, the woman’s side asked me to call her. Would it be considered rude to call with my number blocked? ② Also, if we decide to exchange contact information, do most women share their LINE? For safety reasons, I’d prefer to use Twitter, email, or some other messaging tool, so I’d like to know what everyone else does. ③ Do people ever ask for contact information containing your real name or other personal details, or ask for your address? If someone does ask and you want to avoid answering, how do you politely decline? I’m a beginner and recently registered, and I’ve just received my first offer. I’d appreciate any advice. Thank you for taking the time to read this long post.

This is Joe, your columnist. Since there have already been plenty of answers, I’d like to leave you with two sayings: - Look before you leap. - Nothing ventured, nothing gained. In short, I believe the key to a wonderful encounter is finding the right balance between caution and boldness. Personally, I’m drawn to beautiful women who are bold in every sense of the word. I hope you find a wonderful connection and relationship. Now, I’ll take my leave, as I’m about to have a rather bold, intimate encounter with Princess Nana.

I’m a male member, Date◎Yume. ① I’ve only met three people so far, and none of them has ever called me from a private number. ② In my case, I can only use email (I don’t know how to do anything else), so we exchange email addresses. ③ No one has ever asked me directly, but our real names sometimes come up naturally in conversation. I only date one person at a time, so I choose carefully—but once we decide to see each other, we both know each other’s identities pretty well(笑) Even so, we never use our real names or other personal information. We contact and address each other using our club names, and so on. If you want to keep everything confidential except what’s necessary, I think it’s perfectly fine to say, “Let’s keep this within the club arrangement.”

Maezawa from the Corporate Planning Office will answer as well. > ① When meeting a woman for the first time, she asked me to call her. Would it be considered rude to call with my number hidden? From the man’s perspective, he may want you to show your number because he’d probably like to get your phone number. However, the club’s position is that while showing your number is preferable, calling anonymously is also perfectly fine. In reality, many women call with their numbers hidden. Even so, men say that when they receive a call around the meeting time, they assume it’s probably the woman they’re meeting that day and answer it. From a woman’s perspective, if she meets a man and feels they aren’t compatible, she may worry about him knowing her phone number afterward. So I think most men are fairly understanding about women calling anonymously when meeting up. > ② Also, when it comes to exchanging contact information, do most women share their LINE? For safety reasons, I’d prefer to use Twitter, email, or another messaging tool. What do others usually do? These days, many women seem to have no problem sharing their LINE. Some barely check it in the first place. I’ve even seen people with over 100 unread LINE notifications—though apparently they only open messages from people they actually need to respond to. It makes me feel like times have really changed. If you’re uncomfortable sharing LINE, exchanging KakaoTalk is probably the most common alternative. I don’t think many people exchange Twitter accounts. Skype would be more common than Twitter. LINE, KakaoTalk, and Skype all have one thing in common: they support voice calls, as well as video calls. Twitter doesn’t. > ③ Do men ever ask for your real name or contact information containing your real name, or your address? If they do and you want to avoid answering, how should you politely decline? I think you’ll often be asked. But if you say something like, “Maybe once we get to know each other better,” most men will probably understand and accept that. If it develops into a long-term relationship, I think it’s fine to share your real name, at least—provided that the man shares his real name with you too, of course.

I’m a male member, “Paper Airplane.” ① No one has ever called me from a blocked number. So unfortunately, I think calling anonymously probably isn’t a good idea from a man’s perspective. ② Basically, I exchange LINE contact information. There was one person who preferred email. ③ I think the rule is not to ask, so you should be fine unless you volunteer your real name. Most women usually introduce themselves by their real names, even at the first meeting. When I like someone, they naturally mention their first name or full name during the conversation. If I’m not interested in someone, the subject generally doesn’t even come up. If you like the person and want to see them again, and they seem trustworthy, I don’t think you need to worry too much. If a man asks for your real name, you could say, “Could we use our club names at first?” Or, if you like him, you could just tell him your first name. P.S. These days, when someone tells me their real name, I sometimes can’t remember it when we meet a second time. So I try to call them by their club name and avoid letting the conversation head in that direction as much as possible.
