I’d like to have my photos retaken. Is it possible to do so in a different prefecture from where they were originally taken?

Maezawa from the Corporate Planning Office here. Your very first interview can be done at any branch, but your registration will be with the branch nearest your place of residence. For a reshoot, it will probably generally need to be done at your current branch. However, you could try saying: “I happen to be planning to visit ○○ Prefecture on this day. Would it be possible to have the reshoot done at the ○○ branch?” In that case, I have a feeling it would probably be okay. That said, your registration would still remain with the branch near your residence. So if you want to change branches, you would probably need to make arrangements such as temporarily staying at a friend’s address. For women who are already registered, though, I don’t think they would go as far as asking for proof of address. If you can say, “I haven’t changed the address on my driver’s license yet, but this is where I currently live,” and provide the full address, including the street number and room number, I feel that should probably be enough. Of course, if they become suspicious, they might ask you to provide proof that you currently live there...
