Do most women give the same impression in person as they do in their profile photos? I’d at least like to look even better in person than I do in my photos.

In my 30s, and new to the club Universe was my first club, and I’ve only met women through Universe, but I felt that most of them were actually cuter in person than in their photos. Also, like Rula said, even when someone is cute, I sometimes feel that they lack a certain class or that their fashion sense isn’t great. In the end, it’s not just about looks—the overall package, including makeup, fashion, and personality, matters. I think there’s also a lot that can be improved through effort.

Maezawa from the Planning Department here as well. I think photos of celebrities and the like are usually made to look better than they do in person, but you don’t often hear people say they were disappointed when they saw the actual person. Photos for Universe are taken in much the same way: without retouching, we rely solely on the photographer’s skill to make the women look as attractive as possible. So even if someone looks beautiful in the photo, it isn’t edited, and I think that falls within an acceptable range. If a staff member isn’t particularly skilled and the photo doesn’t turn out that well, the opposite can happen—the woman may look even better in person, which could make the man happy. Looking better in person than in the photos means fewer men will make an offer based solely on the pictures, so I don’t think that’s necessarily a good thing. Even if the photo looks better than the person does in real life, as long as it hasn’t been edited, I think it’s within the expected range. Once you meet, there are benefits to seeing all kinds of expressions, enjoying the conversation, and being unexpectedly drawn to someone for other reasons, so I don’t think there are many disadvantages. In my case, I may have been too good at taking photos, because I’ve actually had someone demand a refund, saying the photos turned out too good. But that’s rare. Besides, if he had properly looked at the woman in person, he would probably have seen the same expression captured in that single moment in the photo.

I’m BB7, a male member. When I meet some women in person, they say things like: “That photo wasn’t taken well.” “I’m not photogenic.” “I want to have my pictures retaken.” “I won’t get any offers with those photos.” But in most cases, I find myself thinking, “No, no—that’s exactly what you look like in front of me…” For some reason, women who look better in person than in their photos never say things like that. No offense.

I’m a UC male member and a member of the new salon. I’m Rula. I’ve never felt that there was a huge difference between the photos and reality. At other dating clubs, there were often cases where I thought, “Huh? Is this really the same person?” But at Universe Club, I was never that shocked(笑) There were women who looked about 30% more beautiful in person than in their photos, and others who were a little disappointing because they looked about 30% less attractive. But I never encountered anyone who looked 50% worse in person. When I make an offer, I judge based on my preference for her features as shown in the photos. But once I actually meet her, I find myself judging her appearance as part of her overall vibe—including her personality, character, and, if you will, her upbringing. There have been quite a few women who were extremely beautiful in terms of their features, but whose overall appearance and aura made me feel I didn’t want to continue seeing them. I guess it’s true that your inner self shows in your looks. I need to keep that in mind myself too…

I’m Seattle, a male member. Maybe the Universe camera strikes just the right balance, because I keep writing in my feedback that they looked just like their photos. I suppose that’s better than writing, “She didn’t look as good as her pictures.” But if the Universe camera is too good at its job, that can be a problem too. Please photograph them at about 0.91x. I’m not exactly one to hold back, so I end up repeatedly telling them they’re beautiful and cute. But honestly, everyone really was gorgeous. As for me, though, I don’t pay attention to hairstyles. I’m a simple-minded guy who only looks at faces and skin.
