I’m seeing a man mainly for an adult relationship (intimate). When we only go out for meals or dates without intimacy, he doesn’t cover my transportation costs. I do receive an allowance when we’re intimate. How should I politely tell him I can’t go on dates without intimacy because he doesn’t cover transportation?

I’m Saito, a columnist ♪ As Seattle said, I think it’s best to communicate your own opinion. Also, as Mac suggested, I believe it’s simply good manners for the man to pay, since this isn’t your first meeting. That’s just my personal opinion, though.

I’m a male member, BB7. Even among women who charge ¥〇〇 for an adult relationship, I’ve encountered all kinds of arrangements: 1. ¥10,000 if there’s no intimacy 2. ¥〇〇 whether there’s intimacy or not 3. They simply don’t go on dates without intimacy 4. They don’t require any money for dates without intimacy Some set time limits of up to two hours, four hours, or no limit at all. I recommend deciding on your own preferred style and stating your terms directly and clearly. If that doesn’t work, your only options are to compromise or end things with that man.

I’m Date◎Yume, a male member. In your situation, I think it would be best to discuss it with him. I imagine he’s trying to keep his dating expenses down, but not many people are quite that stingy. That said, dinner dates do cost a fair amount, so I can understand where he’s coming from. Since an adult relationship is also part of the arrangement in this case, I have a feeling the dates will ultimately settle into a package that includes intimacy every time. Men who join a dating club are generally looking for an adult relationship, while women are looking for financial support. So I think the arrangement should settle at a point where both sides are satisfied.

Maezawa from the Corporate Planning Office here. If you know in advance what kind of date it will be that day, it seems best to turn him down when he invites you. That said, suddenly refusing might feel awkward, so when you meet for an adult relationship (intimate), it may be a good idea to discuss the terms for dinner only (no intimacy) directly with him. That could even lead to deciding that all future dates will be adult relationships (intimate). He may think you’re satisfied with regular dates because he pays for your meals. Having an honest discussion about that should help clear up any misunderstanding.

I’m a male member based in Seattle. Would it be possible to say something straightforward like: “I’m sorry, but due to my schedule, studies, and other commitments, I can’t meet unless transportation expenses of ¥10,000 are provided”? I’m an inconsiderate man who would otherwise be taking up a valuable woman’s time for free.
