I’m Saito, a column writer ♪ I’m not really comfortable accepting money from women, so even if I receive an offer through that system, I don’t meet with them. I’d rather be with a woman who wants to see me badly enough to pay, and I’d prefer her to spend that money on improving herself. Just one perspective among the many opinions of male members.

I’m male member だて◎ゆめ. That’s a good question(笑) Apparently host clubs are a thing—would this be the dating-club equivalent? If so, would the male members be handsome guys who are different from us? We’d also need to consider whether to run it within this dating club or set it up as a separate organization.

Maezawa from the Corporate Planning Office here as well. At the moment, we don’t have any plans to do that, but we have been exploring new ideas like this for some time. If you’re genuinely willing to pay the membership fee and arrangement fee, we might be able to use your case as a test and arrange a meeting for you in exchange for an actual payment. If you’re interested, please contact us through the form below the question box, addressed to “Maezawa.” Of course, this is only a possibility, so you may contact us and it may end with nothing more than a discussion. If that’s still okay with you, we’d be happy to hear from you. That said, as you can see from the men’s membership page, the fees are quite high. In the reverse situation, there’s also the question of whether someone would really be willing to pay the same amount.

I’m Seattle, a male member. The people running Universe would probably reject it, though. It’s like an upgraded version of Type E. It seems like it could bring in more revenue than simply leaving women who get no offers sitting there. If someone made a really strong pitch, I’m weak-willed enough that I’d probably meet her. That said, since it would take demand away from women who would otherwise receive offers, I wonder if revenue from the higher tiers would decrease. It’s an interesting idea, so I almost wish they’d try it—perhaps by charging women a higher setting fee or making it a limited-time program. There are hardly any Type E women, so maybe adding a few more wouldn’t hurt.
