I want to pay off my student loan balance (¥2.5 million) in one lump sum. Would it be possible to negotiate something like, “In exchange for receiving the full amount upfront, I’ll spend a year seeing you”? Would that be too much for the average male member?

I’m Saito, a columnist♪ There are quite a few women like this, and by and large, they’re not very smart. I’ll say that outright. I imagine quite a few men have mistakenly given money to women like that—including me. That’s right—when it’s a mistake like that, the chances of things ending happily are zero. A woman who gets herself into a situation where she needs to borrow money in advance is not going to properly keep her promises. I know several women like that, and almost 100% of them end up in the sex industry. They’re exactly the kind of women loan sharks love. lol As for whether there are men who still pay them—yes, there certainly are. But I think it’s part of the male members’ personal growth. And people don’t repeat the same mistake.

I’m Joe, the columnist. As everyone has pointed out, I can’t think of any reason why the repayment would have to be made all at once, so I’d probably turn it down too. As for student loans, Joe believes it’s fine to use money earned through papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) to pay them back, but they should be repaid little by little each month. That way, you learn how to manage money and understand what taking on debt really means. Basically, Joe thinks paying everything off in one lump sum is something only fools do. Sorry for the harsh opinion. That said, if you still want to pay it all at once, Joe’s terms would be: “Serve me for a year for transportation costs only. After one year, if I’m satisfied, I’ll pay you 2.5 million yen.”

I’m だて◎ゆめ, a male member. > I want to pay off my ¥2.5 million in student loans all at once. Would that be too much for a typical male member? For male members of a dating club, I think that amount is financially possible. However— > Do you think I could negotiate something like, “In return for receiving the full amount upfront, I’ll stay with you for a year”? I think anyone would agree that sounds pretty unrealistic.

Maezawa from the Corporate Planning Office here as well. Conversely, if a man told you he would pay you after a year, would you accept that? Normally, after meeting someone only a few times, you may not be able to trust them that much. You might even have a falling-out and part ways in the eleventh month. In that case, you wouldn’t receive a single yen. With that in mind, I think it would normally be difficult to receive a full year’s allowance upfront. There’s always a chance that after meeting once, you won’t be able to see each other again. In other words, it would be a scam.

I’m Rula, a UC male member and a member of the new salon. As for whether I could pay that amount all at once: technically, yes, I could. However, I would never pay a woman ¥2.5 million in one lump sum. I don’t understand why her student loans absolutely have to be repaid all at once. Wouldn’t a plan like paying an extra ¥200,000 per month and finishing repayment in about a year work? Even if the woman feels, “I want to pay it off all at once for my own peace of mind,” the man would still have to take on the uncertainty and risk of wondering: “Will she really stay with me for the entire year without disappearing?” “Even if she does stay in a monthly arrangement for a year, will I, as a man, still be able to continue seeing the same woman for a full year without getting bored?” If she makes the proposal simply because “she wants to pay it off quickly,” without considering the risks on the man’s side, that’s self-centered. If a woman thinks that way, I wouldn’t want to date her in the first place. So, unfortunately, even if I can afford to pay the full amount, I would cut things off as soon as she made such a proposal at the beginning. If someone wanted to make that kind of proposal, I think it would be better to spend at least three months on a month-to-month arrangement first, and then discuss something like, “Regarding the remaining nine months…” Both women and men have their own hopes and desires. Being upfront about them may make things clearer, but ultimately, this is a relationship between two people. I believe it’s important to consider the other person’s feelings while still trying to fulfill your own wishes.
