I’d like to go for an interview, but I usually wear versatile clothes like skinny jeans rather than dresses. I can’t really afford to buy new clothes right now—would it be possible to borrow an outfit? Also, would a suit like the one I wore to my university entrance ceremony be okay?

Thank you for your question! Kida, our representative, will be answering. Why—why would you request the representative for this question? You’re asking me, someone who doesn’t even know what kind of skinny jeans can be mixed and matched? And the alternative to skinny jeans is a suit for a school entrance ceremony?! How broke are you?! Oh, I see. That’s it, isn’t it? It’s part of your plan, right? You’re trying to turn me into Cinderella, aren’t you? Come to the interview wearing a grimy suit, with some mud or something on your cheeks and a straw hat. If you’re lucky, one of our staff might even create your profile as a “Cinderella before her transformation” type of character.

Maezawa from the Corporate Planning Office here. We do, of course, lend out clothes, so there’s no need to worry. That said, if you’re coming in for a date, I recommend wearing your best outfit from the clothes you already own. The reason is that many of the outfits we provide are on the sexy side, such as tops with a very low neckline. They’re fine if they suit your figure, but if they don’t, we may end up deciding—somewhat reluctantly—that it’s better to photograph you in the clothes you came in wearing. Also, some men say they’d like to see at least one photo of the outfit the woman arrived in, so we sometimes include one shot in her own clothes. Your sense of style may be judged from that as well, which is what we mean when we say to wear the best outfit you can. There are also times when interviews for three people end up overlapping. Even if appointments have been scheduled, someone may be late, the next person may arrive early, or someone may suddenly ask to come in right away, causing the schedules to overlap. When that happens, there’s no time to change, so we simply take the photos as you are and wrap things up. We occasionally receive feedback saying, “I thought I’d be able to borrow clothes.” So, although we do make clothes available to borrow, you should still come prepared with an outfit that you’d be confident wearing for the shoot.
