My papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) is going very well.
But when I reflect on it, it’s just the same thing over and over.
There’s some variety, and I still have an obsession with setting a new “best ever” for myself, but even so, it’s still just repetition, going around in circles.
There was a time when I thought finding a long-term companion on a monthly arrangement might be the point where I could finally call it a day. But once I reached that point, I realized that even that “finish line” was nothing more than another recurring pattern.
Perhaps I should simply accept that papa-katsu is what it is—an activity that doesn’t fundamentally lead to any progress.

Sometimes I think the men who register with and actively use dating clubs are truly impressive.
That’s because some men eventually lose their spark. Men who have become that way apparently lose much of their interest in women. I’ve even heard some say, “I don’t have any sexual desire anymore.”
There’s nothing wrong with that, and they usually lose their edge and become genuinely kind people, so I think that’s perfectly fine too.
Still, I can’t help but admire men who remain energetic even as they get older.
If it’s merely a matter of repetition, then you could say most things in life are repetitive. But everyone is different, so every new encounter can bring new discoveries. Even something that looks like repetition may not actually be the same thing.
A life where you eventually lose your spark is fine too.
But men who stay energetic forever—that kind of man is wonderful in his own way.

I’m Seattle, a male member.
I was planning to quit after one year since I’d already found a satisfying monthly arrangement.
But when I felt like making an offer to someone in the higher-tier Type A category for dinner only (no intimacy) on days I was bored, I upgraded my membership class—and that extended my membership for another year. I plan to leave once this year is over.
If I’ve been dumped by then, I’ll continue.
