Like Mac, I’m not a staff member, so I may not be the most appropriate person to answer. But I’m also a graduate of a high school that wasn’t particularly academically selective, and I could relate to your situation, so I wanted to respond.
First of all, since you’re from a humanities background, I think your academic background is a good fit for Universe. As someone involved in papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan), I’ve really come to realize how deep and complex it is.
Someone with a science background might try to find a single answer and prove it using various formulas, but in reality, it’s not that simple.
People with all kinds of positions, preferences, and motives are involved in papa-katsu. There isn’t just one answer, and it’s difficult to say what the “correct” one is. In that respect, someone from the humanities may be able to take a broader view and understand that “there are different ways of seeing, thinking, and feeling about things.”
That said, Universe is doing well and has become one of the major companies in the industry, so I imagine it’s also quite popular among job seekers. I wonder if that’s the case?
I have to admit, the part about taking an extra year to get in and not having a particularly high academic偏差値 does make me a little curious（笑）
If you make it all the way to the second-stage interview, be sure to tell the interviewer: “I’ve also submitted a question to your anonymous question box and received words of encouragement from your members.”

You don’t need any particular educational background or experience with papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan).
We have female staff members who have never done papa-katsu and are doing very well, so I believe how you perform after joining the company is more important than whether you have experience.
(That said, naturally, it’s also important whether the interviewer feels they would like to work with you.)
