Are there any female members who live far from a branch but still receive offers, or male members who know someone in that situation?

I’m Saito, a column writer ♪ I often hear female members I’m seeing say things like: “I got an offer from someone pretty far away, so I received travel expenses and went to meet him.” I assumed this was more common than it actually is… Apparently, it’s fairly rare.

I’m Maezawa from the CEO’s office, and I’ll answer this as well. Women who live far from the area in question are generally considered open to long-distance dates. That said, even if they’re open to long-distance dates, it’s standard for the man to cover the actual transportation costs, so it can still be difficult. There was even one amazing woman who said, “I don’t need reimbursement for transportation—I’ll cover it myself.” (Even if she received a ¥10,000 thank-you payment for dinner, she’d still be losing money once transportation costs were factored in.) Ultimately, though, the distance was still a significant barrier, and offers rarely came in. I may have made this sound a little discouraging, but at the end of the day, what matters most is whether she’s the man’s type. If she is, I think many men would make an offer—for example, if she were willing to come all the way to Nagoya.

I’m a male member based in Seattle. If you’re open to meeting someone from out of town, it broadens your options. That said, there’s also a lot more competition in big cities, so you might have better luck appealing to men in Fukui Prefecture. No matter where you register, I think the ratio stays about the same: there are roughly six times as many female members as male members.
