I've been thinking about this for a while: while all the female members' information is made public, some male members don't even have profiles, and even when they do, there may be no photos or information at all... As things stand, I feel that women are often expected to meet someone on the day while knowing very little about them and still feeling uneasy.

Maezawa from the President’s Office here. At first, we didn’t have a male profile feature. I think this was probably because that’s simply how dating clubs operated at the time, so Universe didn’t have one either. However, the fact that many men still haven’t registered profiles suggests that many of them don’t want to. As long as that way of thinking remains common, I don’t think it would be appropriate to make profiles mandatory. That said, men do create profiles and post photos on dating sites and similar services. With that in mind, perhaps the day will eventually come when it’s standard for men to post profiles and photos as well. I can’t say how things will develop in the future, but for now, although I understand that it may feel unsettling, I hope you can also see it as meaning you may have a better chance of meeting a great man.

This is Saito, the columnist♪ I understand how you feel, but the annual membership fees and other club expenses are covered by the male members. If we start asking, “Then why aren’t women charged membership fees?” it feels like the conversation will just turn into an endless back-and-forth. Also, under the circumstances you describe, the fact that there are overwhelmingly more female members may simply be how things work in terms of supply and demand. To a certain extent, society makes judgments based on supply and demand, so I don’t think things will ever go as far as eliminating all the risks women face. This is just my personal opinion.

It’s true that some members probably don’t post photos. However, I’ve heard that the Goraku Club provides information about its male members, so using that as a reference should give you a general idea of what they’re like. 2. Ideally, they would post photos so you could get an idea of their appearance, but I think some members may not be able to do so. 3. You could rely on the information provided by the Goraku Club, or, if you’re uneasy, it may be best to decline the offer.
