I believe that in the past, invitations were sent out more or less as a mass email to men who seemed interested. But now that there’s an event page, it seems more men are applying through there. > Conversely, is it difficult for women to participate in events if they haven’t been personally invited? Women can apply through the event page as well. Each event may have its own theme, so applying doesn’t guarantee participation, but I encourage you to give it a try.

I’m a male Standard member. I found an event on the website and signed up myself. After attending once, I received a message on LINE, and Universe also directly invited me to an event that apparently didn’t have enough participants. Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend that day because I had other plans. When I asked a woman I met, she said Universe had invited her as well.
