I had my interview today and was registered right away.
I’ve never been confident about my looks, but when I looked again at the photos they took of me, I really did look unattractive. I’m worried whether someone like me could actually receive an offer—or maybe I won’t get any offers at all...
Are the women who receive offers generally beautiful? Do people who make you think, “Really? Someone with that appearance?” ever receive offers?
Maezawa here.
I think most women lack confidence in themselves. I also feel that what women consider beautiful differs from what men consider beautiful.
For example, there may be women whom other women look at and wonder, “Why is she so popular?”
Even if a woman doesn’t seem particularly remarkable from another woman’s perspective, she may be exactly the kind of woman men want to make an offer to.

I believe that even women who other women might look at and wonder, “Why her?” do receive offers. (That’s because they may look quite attractive from a man’s perspective.)
Also, if a staff member takes a particular liking to someone during the interview, they may add a comment such as, “This woman has some truly exceptional qualities.”
Sometimes men see that comment and decide to make an offer.
Looks are important, and popular women do tend to receive offers for that reason. However, some women receive offers because of their personality or other qualities, so it’s difficult to make a blanket statement.
I hope you’ll wait and see whether any offers come in.
