Apparently, there’s a trick that lets you have your photos retaken after three months.
Night Sakura told me about this. It seems an automatic survey is sent out during your third month. One of the questions apparently asks whether you want your photos retaken, so first, select “Yes, I would like a retake.”
However, you probably still won’t hear anything afterward. That’s because none of the staff actually look at the survey.
The survey responses are still on record, though, so contact them through the inquiry box and say something like:
“I selected that I wanted my photos retaken in the survey, but no one has contacted me.”
We’ll then contact the people on site and let them know they overlooked the survey. That should allow you to have your photos retaken. (If they can’t do it, then why ask in the first place?)
Even so, it’s outrageous that they’ve had this option in the survey for years but the staff don’t even look at the responses.
When I checked, hundreds of people had selected “Yes, I would like a retake.” (And I assume none of them had been contacted either.) Thinking that all of those requests were simply ignored brings to mind Lupin’s line after being dropped in The Castle of Cagliostro:
“They killed and killed—four hundred years’ worth, I suppose... Namu Amida Butsu, Namu Amida Butsu.”
> “I’m self-conscious about my gummy smile, yet they took a photo of me laughing with my mouth wide open.”
I agree that the wide-open-mouth thing is a bit much, but I actually think smiling photos look pretty good.
When I see people photographed with serious expressions, I find myself thinking, “This isn’t an ID photo, so I wish they’d take a more cheerful picture.”
There are probably men who look better when they smile, too, don’t you think?
It depends on the person’s features, so I don’t think there’s one answer that applies to everyone.
If you really hate it, I think you should talk to the club.
Even if a reshoot isn’t possible, you can ask them to remove the photos with your gummy smile from your profile.
If you tell them about your insecurities in advance, they probably won’t use photos that highlight them.
This is just my impression, but I don’t think the difference will be that significant…
I’ve looked at the profiles of women who had their photos retaken several times, and honestly, they often don’t look that different lol. Some of them go way overboard in the wrong direction with their makeup, and you end up thinking, “She looked better before.”
The papa generation often prefers natural makeup. Some women switch to heavy Korean-style makeup, when their previous youthful, natural look had more of a refined, innocent feel.
There’s a slight difference between how women want to look beautiful and the kind of appearance that makes men want to make an offer.
Rather than focusing on how you photograph, I think it’s better to work on yourself first—lose weight, improve your skin, and then have your photos retaken.
I’ve seen many women who were transformed through papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan), invested their allowance in beauty treatments, worked hard, and looked much more beautiful in their new photos.
