I wanted to ask about scouts. Are women connected with scouts almost always sex workers?

I think there may be some misunderstanding about what scouts actually do. Their job is to find women who look like they could make money—by approaching them on the street, using personal connections, and so on—and then refer them to the agency or business that seems most suitable for them. That could mean AV, soaplands, delivery health services, nightlife businesses, dating clubs, and so on. Of course, they may sometimes redirect a sex worker to a dating club, but a reputable scout knows that sex workers generally aren’t very popular at dating clubs. Considering the commission they stand to earn, they probably wouldn’t introduce many sex workers to the dating scene. There’s also a good chance that active sex workers already have a scout, so they may avoid approaching them out of professional courtesy. That said, women who come through scouts are often given a lot of guidance and support so they can secure as many offers as possible. As a result, many of them seem to gradually become pros at compensated dating.

What do you think? I’ve met quite a few people through scouts, but I haven’t met anyone who’s currently working in the adult entertainment industry. By coincidence, the person I recently said goodbye to, who joined Universe through a scout, is a pharmacist. The person I’m meeting this week through a scout works for a property developer. I also get the impression that some have been university students, although those arrangements didn’t continue. It seems like the scouts are putting a lot of thought into who they introduce people to, so I don’t think making assumptions will lead to particularly good results. Sex workers aren’t particularly popular in papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan), so scouts don’t really approach active sex workers that often, do they? If a sex worker is attractive, she can simply earn more in the sex industry, so there’s no reason for her to go out of her way to do papa-katsu. When I’ve asked women I previously dated through papa-katsu, several said that if they were a little wild, they had worked part-time in the nightlife business, such as girls’ bars. A few who were a bit more adventurous had even worked at a delivery-type adult service. There are also some women who do both men’s esthetic services and papa-katsu, but they generally just dabbled in it or had done it in the past. I don’t think active, full-time sex workers are scouted very often. I also don’t get the impression that the clubs are seeing more sex workers joining. From time to time, especially in question boxes, you see women who clearly don’t understand papa-katsu and don’t seem very bright asking things like, “How much can I make from this job?” Women who don’t know what papa-katsu is sometimes mistake it for sex work and call it a job, but it’s mostly just a misunderstanding—or they simply aren’t bright enough to understand it. The women who have monthly arrangements with Fuu are working professionals with regular daytime jobs. They do papa-katsu because they want extra money for cosmetics and going out. As for how attractive they are, that depends on each person’s standards, but they’re definitely pretty and cute enough.
