I think it’s because people are often happy when they’re given designer items.
That said, I don’t think it’s limited to modest, down-to-earth girls.
Did you focus on that because you’d seen examples of more modest girls receiving designer items?

Since my priority is seeing her happy, I don’t go out of my way to give brand-name items to women who aren’t particularly interested in them or don’t care about brands. Instead, I might treat them to a trip.
Some women simply don’t know much about brands, but I think that’s just because they haven’t had much exposure to them. It’s a separate matter from whether they’re frugal or not.
