I joined because I’d like to date a man with a reputable background. At the interview, I was told that I looked much younger than my age, had a glamorous figure, and came across as attractive and elegant, so I was accepted. The man I’m seeing, who is in his late 40s, told me that since women in their late 50s to 60s can’t get pregnant, he wants to have sex without a condom. I don’t know how to respond. I may not be able to get pregnant, but I’m worried about sexually transmitted infections. As women get older, are there really many men who want to have unprotected sex with them?

I understand how you feel. But if you’re going to compete with young women in their twenties at your age, you have to regard that as one of your selling points, don’t you? If I were the person asking, I’d agree on the condition that we both get regular STI tests. You didn’t tell your late husband, “I’m afraid of STIs, so I don’t want to do it without a condom,” did you? As for the question, personally, knowing I can’t get pregnant actually makes me less inclined to get worked up about doing it without protection.
