Universe is not like that at all.
They generally accept anyone who applies—being denied membership is rare—and don’t chase anyone who leaves.
That said, some other dating clubs may effectively tie you down by charging a photography fee if you quit within a certain number of months after registering. Even so, I believe it’s only a few thousand yen, so if you really want to leave, you can just pay it and quit.

Even at top-tier companies, some people quit after just one day, and at Universe, some decide they can’t do it after only a few hours and leave.
I imagine there are also people whom the club chooses not to register because, even though they think they’ve been accepted, the club still has concerns about them.
It seems to me that the club’s pre-screening recommendations fall into two categories: people they genuinely recommend, and people they’re still keeping an eye on because they’re hesitant to make their profiles public. Is that how it works?

I don’t think there are any restrictions like that.
I’ve never used multiple dating clubs at the same time, but I have used them alongside apps, and my impression is that there are quite a few women registered with multiple services.
