From the perspective of women in their 20s, you’d probably be considered an older man.
When you were 20, how did women in their 40s look to you—say, a friend of your mother’s?
Personally, I think I’m still an older man, but I’m working on my grooming, scent, and physique so I can hopefully fall within the acceptable range for a 20-something woman in an adult relationship (intimate).

When I was a freshman in college, I thought 24-year-olds were old men.
And while 40 is definitely middle-aged, if you’re going to be an older guy, you should play up your professional competence, your interesting life experiences (not bragging), and that cool, distinguished charm.
Thinking, “I’m still young, right? I can relate to women in their 20s like we’re the same age, right?” is incredibly uncool.
It’s the same as an older woman desperately trying to look young—just embarrassing.

It depends on the woman’s age, but that’s probably about right. Maybe once you turn 30, you officially join the club?
