He told me that yesterday morning, he pinched his penis in his pants and it became inflamed. After leaving it untreated, it swelled up that night, so he went to the hospital this morning (today). Apparently, they said the wound had become infected and did blood and urine tests. He’ll get the results in a week.
I’m worried, but as a woman, I can’t help wondering whether he’s cheating—or using an STD as an excuse… I’m sorry to say that, especially since I’m involved in papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) myself.
My regular tests have always come back clear, but would I actually know if I had an STD? I’d appreciate opinions from anyone whose partner or lover has had an STD, as well as from those who haven’t.

If you’re worried, go get tested right away. Some clinics can give you the results the same day.
What your boyfriend said might be true. At slower clinics, test results can take about a week. On the other hand, if, for example, you test positive for chlamydia, it can be a two-week process—taking medication and then confirming that it’s been cured.
You may not have any noticeable symptoms, so the important thing is to get tested—over and over if necessary. If you’re still worried, you could get tested each time after intimacy.

Illnesses have incubation periods, so getting tested today after being intimate yesterday is way too soon, haha.
You’ll get more accurate results if you wait two or three weeks before testing.

Does a blood test really take that many days?
Maybe they told you not to have sex for a week after taking medication because you might have an STI?
For infections like gonorrhea or chlamydia, given the risk of transmission, it’s generally about a week.

If it really became inflamed from being pinched
(a zipper, maybe?),
perhaps bacteria entered through the wound caused by the pinching and led to inflammation.
If they’re lying, it could be an STI.
With an STI, early symptoms often include bumps, swelling, itching, and pain.
Syphilis can cause mild early symptoms that then go away, after which it remains dormant and reportedly gets progressively worse, so you need to be careful.
