Since so many men are looking for unprotected sex, are STIs really that widespread in clubs—or papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan)?

Syphilis is reportedly on the rise—not just among people involved in papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan), according to online news reports. I haven’t seen any evidence that other STIs are increasing, so I can’t really say. My basic precautions against STIs are: ・Use condoms ・Wash with soap ・Gargle with mouthwash ・Early detection and treatment → I already have a doctor lined up who can provide test results and medication immediately.

As Kazu-san says, evidence is important. However, there have been various news reports about the spread of syphilis and other sexually transmitted infections. I don’t think this is limited to papa-katsu or compensated dating clubs in general.

Is the premise of this question—that diseases are incredibly widespread in clubs, or rather in papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan)—actually true? To start with, please provide data from a reliable source showing that the infection rate is significantly higher than with other forms of sexual activity.
