Lately, even when it isn’t really a question, I’ve been leaving posts with answers visible out of respect for the people who answered them. Normally, though, these are the kinds of posts that could be hidden. However, if people on the other side think their posts won’t be deleted, they’ll probably keep writing similar things. So if everyone stops answering posts they feel aren’t worth responding to, then those posts can be hidden—even if they’re questions.

Both of you have responded with such sincerity and gentlemanly courtesy. It’s wonderful. There are always things we get wrong, and I’ve come to realize through playing golf that what matters is how you recover from them. It’s the same here—difficult, though. I don’t know whether it’s a good thing or a bad thing that this site has people other than questioners and respondents like you. I sometimes think that experienced members aren’t necessarily bad; it’s just the ones who act like entitled old-timers who are the problem. But every industry and community has people like that, so I’ve tried brushing them off or responding emotionally and provoking them. I’ve learned, though, that nothing really gets through to those people. The club probably needs experienced members who make lots of offers, and I’m learning every day that even troublesome old-timers can be useful in the right way. In a sense, they may be a necessary evil. This is half-provocation too, so I doubt it’ll get through. And since it isn’t a question, will it be hidden?
