Come to think of it… an envelope containing KitKats arrived at our company’s general affairs department from some company.
They threw it away because they knew the company but didn’t know who had sent it.
That’s the level of chocolate KitKats and Alfort are for Valentine’s Day.
Did you actually pitch yourself to your papa (a male supporter)?

If it’s expensive chocolate, I can’t take it home, so I’m left wondering when and where I’m supposed to get rid of it by eating it.
But with KitKats or Alforts, I can just say my daughter gave them to me, so they’re easy to bring home from work or a shop. I could’ve bought them myself, too.
With expensive or homemade chocolate, I have no choice but to stop somewhere and finish eating it before I get home. I have to eat it all on the spot, quickly throw the packaging in a trash can, and cover my tracks before heading home…
Unless it’s homemade chocolate that’s been chilled at a woman’s place and she lets me eat it freshly made, it only makes me about half as happy.

You can probably get a pretty good idea from your papa’s expression, his thank-you email, and so on.
That said, unless he’s so smitten with you that he’d be thrilled to receive any chocolate from you, KitKats probably won’t be all that well received…

Even if you’re not a foodie, you can tell whether it’s just some chocolate bought nearby or chocolate they went out of their way to get for you.
I think it comes down to the thought behind it—that extra effort is what shows they care.

With KitKats and Alfort, I feel like they’re chocolate-flavored rather than actual chocolate. I can understand calling them snacks, though.
Come to think of it, I’ve always considered myself pretty particular about chocolate, but when a certain male member brought me Pierre Hermé chocolates, I didn’t find them very tasty. It made me wonder if something can be so high-end that ordinary people just can’t appreciate the flavor. I felt bad about it.
I guess Godiva is just right for me ><

I think the thought behind the gift matters a lot.
Giving him some generic, mass-produced item sends the message that you’d be fine even if you and your papa (a male supporter) went your separate ways.
If all you’re going to give him is a KitKat or an Alfort, you’d probably be better off not giving him anything at all if you want to keep things amicable.

Since she’s such a shallow woman, she probably wouldn’t understand the value of things anyway.
If you took her somewhere mediocre for dinner or treated her carelessly, how do you think she’d feel?

It probably depends on the person.
That said, the fact that you lump all “papas” together makes you come across as rather careless yourself. If a careless person gave me KitKats or Alforts, I’d probably think, “Yep, this person really is careless.”
I wouldn’t want to continue seeing someone careless, but since she’s dating someone like that, maybe she has a high tolerance for careless behavior. She might not mind it.
Actually, did you post this because you thought it was funny?
