I’ve transferred money before too, but it leaves a paper trail. Since then, I’ve only handed over cash in person.

Why not go to a bank and make the transfer in cash through an ATM?
As far as I know, the transfer limit for cash is ¥100,000, so you may need to split it into multiple transfers.
