I’m seeing a woman in her thirties who seems popular in the Black class, but I’m worried about what the future holds because she’s in high demand. I give her ¥80,000 each time, but she still won’t go to a hotel with me. She says she wants to take things slowly, and it’s already been a month. She seems to have quite a few generous (well-paying) papas. Around how much would a generous papa of a popular woman usually offer to keep her exclusively?

There may be plenty of generous (well-paying) papas, but if she were being exclusively kept, she would have cut you off by now, so it doesn’t seem like she’s being kept at the moment. I don’t think there are many men who can support someone at that level, and when they can, factors beyond money are important too. Outside the club, a girl I’m seeing earns ¥30,000–¥40,000 an hour at a lounge, so ¥80,000 for dinner alone probably seems quite normal to someone like her. If she registered with a dating club, she’d probably be considered top-tier—or maybe even blacklisted. Who knows. Recently, she turned down an allowance of ¥300,000 on a pay-per-meeting basis. She said there was no amount that would make it worth it with that particular person. Of course, she didn’t treat him that coldly to his face; she’s still continuing to see him properly as a client. Based on all that, I think the chances are extremely low for you as well, so it may be best to move on to the next person. Also, at that level, being younger doesn’t really increase your chances, so I think you should give up on that particular class of woman. The girl mentioned above is in her early twenties.

> She told me she wanted to take things slowly... It sounds like a tactic women use to string along men who don’t want an intimate relationship. I’ve heard from women in the dating scene that they can usually decide within a few minutes of meeting someone for the first time whether they’re open to intimacy. I’ve also suspected someone of misrepresenting her dating preferences before, and since she was in her 30s, I thought, “Same here!” haha. Give up! Give up! There are plenty of women looking for a relationship. That’s one of the good things about dating clubs.

I don’t think things are going to work out as they are now. The reason is that she doesn’t feel much—if any—masculine attraction toward you. You could try to make up for that financially, but you already feel that spending the money would be a waste, don’t you? In that case, you probably can’t project the relaxed confidence of a man who’s willing to spend big, so honestly, it’ll be difficult.

He clearly has no intention of pursuing an adult relationship (intimate) with you. I think you should realize that sooner rather than later and invest your time elsewhere. If you want to find out whether it’s about the amount of the allowance or simply that he isn’t interested in you as a man, you could ask him—but that’s up to you. Marika

Isn’t it 80,000 yen per hotel visit? And you haven’t even had an adult relationship (intimate) in a whole month? Just my opinion, but I don’t think there’s any future in this. Why not let her go? Are you still unable to give up? You’re simply not on the same level as that problematic woman.

> Popular women aren’t short on money, so they don’t choose someone based solely on the allowance amount. So either give up, or try going for someone younger. Your age is in an awkward middle ground. > There seem to be a lot of generous papas. Then you need to show them how you’re different… If it’s just about money, there’s no limit to how high you can go, so you’ll need to stand out in other ways.

They live in a completely different world from me. If it’s under-the-table and the pay-per-meeting allowance is ¥80,000 at a hotel, I’d consider that fair.

If she’s a “black-label” girl, I’d say 20,000 yen for dinner and 100,000 yen per adult relationship meeting. Just my opinion, haha.

Joe believes that relationships involving money have followed one basic principle since Ihara Saikaku’s *The Life of an Amorous Man*: ask people with money for only a small amount, while getting those without money to pay as much as possible in order to pursue a relationship. The amount someone pays doesn’t necessarily correspond to their actual financial means. I don’t know your financial situation, but judging from your post, I get the impression that you fall into the latter category. If so, Joe doesn’t think this is really a question of how much you should offer. Let me share an example involving a papa-katsu girl I know well. Papa: “How much would I have to pay to have a really intimate relationship with you?” Girl: “Ten million yen!” Papa: “I’ll transfer it tomorrow, so give me your bank details.” She was only joking, but the money was transferred the next day. Incidentally, it was an eight-figure sum. Apparently there were various twists and turns, but of course? it never led to an intimate relationship. Tomorrow, that girl and Joe are going to watch the final kabuki performance at Osaka Shochikuza, and afterward we’ll become quite entangled. Her allowance is a five-figure sum. The amount of money may be a factor, but I think there could be more to it than that. I hope things work out well for you.

Popular women usually aren’t short on money, so I don’t think they choose someone based solely on the allowance. From the way you phrased your question, it sounds like you’ve already been ruled out. So it seems unlikely she’d agree just because you offered a little more allowance. If you really want to pursue her, why not offer ¥1 million and ask?
