What matters is whether you can see the value in that.
Ultimately, you feel murderous because you see that papa as nothing more than an ATM.

I’m Miseki, and whenever someone cracks a joke, I can’t help but playfully call them out.
When I was a teenager, someone I liked gave me a song accompanied by guitar. I was so happy I nearly cried. They were really good, too.
If it’s from someone I like, I think I’d be happy with any gift.
And by the way, “A song is the gift, right?” was just a joke, lol. Don’t worry—no one would seriously do something like that.
At least, I think so, lol.

A long time ago, there was a TV show where an ordinary person had been invited to the studio because it was their birthday and they were a huge DREAMS COME TRUE fan. The show arranged for DREAMS COME TRUE, who happened to be appearing as guests that day, to sing for them. Miwa Yoshida happily agreed, and I saw her walking over with the other members while casually warming up her voice. Once they were close enough to reach out and touch, they sang “Happy Birthday to You” a cappella in a DREAMS COME TRUE arrangement. The woman was crying, but honestly, who wouldn’t? Even I would cry. Though if I appeared on the show and cried, it probably wouldn’t do anything for the ratings and would only cause everyone trouble. (lol)
On another note, Isao Okawa, the founder of CSK, released a CD featuring himself singing 13 songs, including the company anthem. Apparently, he distributed it to the employees as well. There was even a rumor that his photo was printed on the company’s stock certificates. (What is this, a banknote?!) I just checked, and someone is selling one on Mercari for 5,200 yen. That’s surprisingly expensive. (lol)
So, to answer your question: if they’re good, just enjoy it. If they’re bad, that makes them an exceptionally rare person, so you might as well quickly record a video on your phone and look for a way to monetize the opportunity. Even if you feel murderous, you couldn’t kill them anyway—and if you did, it would simply be a crime that ruined your life, so nothing good would come of it.

I’m pretty sure the singing part was a joke.
Earlier, I asked the papa who was actually sitting next to me, and he said cash was best. But ironically, despite answering that way, my papa has given me some wonderful surprise gifts.
For my first birthday after we started seeing each other, he gave me my first luxury watch—I’d never owned one before. I’d never worn anything like that, so I was genuinely thrilled.
But I think he gave it to me because he could imagine, without asking anyone, “She’d love this.” If you don’t know each other well enough to imagine what the other person would like, a surprise will probably fail, so cash is the safest and cleanest option.
So if you know your relationship well enough to be sure that they’d be happy to receive a song, then a song—or anything else—is perfectly fine.

I was about to write, “This is entertainment for the answerer,” but I seem to remember that you actually pulled it off once before (I read it somewhere, I think).
I’m the type who prefers cash for birthday presents, but cash is definitely the safest, most unimaginative option, isn’t it? Part of me wants the courage to sing with all my heart and completely bomb, and part of me really doesn’t.
That got me wondering: what kind of birthday gift from a woman would make a man feel homicidal? What do the other answerers think?
I came up with things like:
・Something like an air freshener
・Hair-growth products
・Shoes that make you look taller
After freezing the room with a song, it might be effective to give her something she actually wanted on the way out and say, “Happy birthday!” Bring her down, then bring her back up. Though maybe she’d just stay down the whole time.
Then I tried imagining how I’d feel if my favorite girl sang her heart out for me as a birthday present, and honestly, I’d be incredibly happy. Probably better than her showing up naked with a ribbon.

Since we usually give each other money, I’ll always remember that birthday present—a song. As a wonderful memory… It was like an upgraded version, after all…
But if it came from a man, though…
With papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan), both people give each other some breathing room and benefit from it, so I hope it never gets to the point where either of them feels murderous…
Ahh, but if I asked one of my favorite girls to sing for me, I’m sure I’d get it back tenfold, tenfold, tenfold…!
