I’m going to Tokyo with my papa (a male supporter) for a one-night, two-day trip. He asked me to look for places I’d like to visit, but I’m a little worried that the places I find online will be full of young women and couples, making us stand out. I’m also not used to asking for things myself, and I’m afraid he might think, “She wants to go somewhere like that?” so I’m nervous about making suggestions.

For these reasons, I’d love to hear about date spots from people active in Tokyo. Could you recommend some cafés or date spots that are good for papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan)? Thank you in advance.

How about rakugo? - Asakusa Engei Hall - Ueno Suzumoto Engeijo - Shinjuku Suehirotei, and so on. In August, Ichinosuke will be performing in the daytime program at Ueno. I think his rakugo is enjoyable even for beginners. I recommend making a reservation. I’d also recommend Miss Saigon at the Imperial Theatre, but one of the performers tested positive for COVID, so the show has been canceled from today through the 24th. The princess is absolutely furious. It’s not my fault, but I’m desperately apologizing anyway.

Stay at a lovely hotel in Tokyo with a pool, and relax by the pool during your free time. If you’re in your 40s to 60s, how about visiting museums or checking out retro and modern architecture? That’s just my personal preference, though...

Recommendations really depend on your age group and where you’re staying, but if you want to avoid feeling out of place among lots of young people, how about: - Taking a leisurely walk around Asakusa while enjoying traditional entertainment and street food - Shopping and stopping by cafés in Ginza or Omotesando - Walking through Shinjuku Gyoen while taking in the natural surroundings As for places I’ve personally been to and would recommend: - The diner at the Imperial Hotel / French toast - Ginza M〇zuki-kan / famous for its Mont Blanc - Omotesando S〇da / lunch course …and so on! *I’ve partially obscured the names so as not to cause any trouble.* Since you’ve already taken the time to look into things, I think it would be nice to discuss various options with your papa, like, “〇〇 and 〇〇 looked good—what do you think?” and decide together. It’ll make the trip more exciting! >>Kazu Maybe it’s because I usually go around lunchtime, but I don’t really picture the women from the club there. If anything, it felt more like Ginza madams to me! I seem to remember Mont Blanc being featured on the shop’s POP display… The chain has quite a few locations, and the seating isn’t too conspicuous. Since the clientele also tends to be older, I don’t think you’d feel out of place there with your papa. If you’re looking for somewhere with more of a club-girl vibe, maybe Miyazawa? Is that too niche? Haha.

I live in Tokyo, but when I spend time with my papa (a male supporter), it’s usually something simple like having drinks in Roppongi, shopping, staying at a hotel, or just going out for a meal. I’m not really into special events, and we don’t usually plan things like, “Let’s go to ___!”—sorry if this isn’t much help. Lately, teamLab has been popular. Otherwise, maybe exhibitions at museums or similar places. The best thing is probably to ask your papa and decide together through a back-and-forth discussion. I hope you find something you can both enjoy.

I love aquariums, so I recommend checking out the many aquariums in Tokyo. Each one has something different to enjoy♪ They’re cool, feel very date-like, and are a lot of fun. As for cafés, I haven’t been there yet, but Ginza is home to Pierre Marcolini’s only café in Japan. I’d love to try their chocolate parfait. Planning a trip is honestly one of the most enjoyable parts. If you’re not set on Tokyo, I think Yokohama has lots of lovely places too. I hope you have a wonderful trip!

If you’re going to ask a question like that, shouldn’t you at least include the age group you’re asking about? Otherwise, how are we supposed to know whether you mean Harajuku or Sugamo? I don’t know where you’re coming from either, but you could check out museums or galleries hosting exhibitions that are only coming to Tokyo. It’s hot, though. Places like that often have cafés too. If you’re walking around a large shopping complex, something like, “That’s cute! Want me to buy it for you?” might happen. Who knows, though. Also, since Tokyo is mostly flat, there aren’t many elevated spots with night views like Mount Rokko or Mount Moiwa. It might be a good idea to research places with night views and look for a restaurant nearby. Watching the view from a hotel room could work too, though. Marika

What was the conversation like that led to the idea of going to Tokyo for fun? Once that’s clear, you can decide where to go. The places I can think of visiting with women in Tokyo are: - Clubs in Ginza - Hostess clubs - Burlesque Tokyo - A golf practice range - Dog cafés - Night pools - A love hotel to call Tokyo Secret Base - Unusual love hotels - A swingers’ bar - A certain spot for some outdoor fun We went to all of them because the women wanted to. The night pool was packed almost entirely with female college students, so I definitely felt out of place. But the men there with their girlfriends were mostly pretty unimpressive, and the groups of men alone seemed like they weren’t popular with women, so it wasn’t too painful. I didn’t stand out as much as I’d feared. For cafés, we usually just pick one at random nearby. For regular restaurants, I either choose a place I like in a genre the woman enjoys, or search online and pick one if I don’t have anywhere in mind. **追加 after reading Tsubaki’s answer** I didn’t know Miyukikan was famous for its Mont Blanc cakes. I’d always thought of it as just a café to kill time in until the hostess from the club was ready...
