I wouldn’t know—I’ve never noticed or even suspected that someone I was dating was cheating on me. I’m not sure whether I’m just bad at picking up on the signs or they’re simply good at hiding it.
I’ve never encountered any of the things the other respondents mentioned either.

For several years at one point, I had someone I met more than 300 times a year—over 25 times a month—and we exchanged more than 100 messages a day, from the moment we woke up until we went to bed. We even told each other everything we’d done that day from the time we got up… (Though it wasn’t papa-katsu.)
Even that might be possible for a woman.
Why?
My ex-wife’s longtime boyfriend could be lying next to her in a hotel bed, and when her husband or daughter called, she’d casually say, “I’m out shopping with a friend right now…” She could even talk to her daughter without missing a beat. Totally normal.
Basically, I assume that if someone takes their phone with them when they go to the bathroom, that’s probably what’s going on. The same goes for when they say they already have plans after you suggest a few possible dates several days in advance.
That said, in papa-katsu, can seeing up to two or three people still be considered—or referred to as—a one-person arrangement? I sometimes wonder whether it’s fair to call it that. Once it’s more than three, though, it’s definitely multiple dating.
