I have a second date coming up with a man, and it seems he wants to take me to a boat race, which is his hobby. To be honest, I’m not interested in boat racing. In this situation, is it okay to simply tell him that? Or, since I’m receiving an allowance, should I go along with things I’m not interested in? I don’t need any platitudes like, “You shouldn’t judge something before trying it. Even if you’re not interested at first, you might enjoy it once you see it, and trying new things will enrich your life experience.” I’d also like to hear about the unusual dates other men have been on.

I’ll answer as Maezawa too. > We don’t need platitudes like that. That’s actually how I was going to answer… Though I’m not sure it’s really a platitude. Was that just the standard answer? Personally, though, I think it’s good to experience things for yourself at least once. You might go even though you’re thinking, “I really don’t want to,” and then realize, “Huh? This atmosphere is different from what I expected.” You may have imagined it as a seedy place full of strange people, only to find that there are plenty of ordinary people there too—or even women. On the other hand, it might turn out to be just as seedy as you imagined and not enjoyable at all. Either way, I feel like you won’t know what it’s really like unless you go at least once. And rather than simply going, I think it might also help to do a little research beforehand. For example, there are female racers in boat racing. You could search to see what kinds of people are involved, or read a little of the boat-racing manga and anime *Monkey Turn*. That might make things look a little different when you actually go. If you really don’t want to go, I think you should explain that to him. At first, he may say something like, “If you’ve never been, let’s go just once.” But even then, you could say, “I’d be happier going on a date somewhere else. Would that be okay?” He might be willing to change the location. Rather than thinking about the money, I think it may help to consider how you’d feel if a man you were dating—regardless of money—invited you there.

I’m Saito, the column writer♪ Why not try it once? Then let me know what you thought. lol A unique date, you say…? ・Happening bar It took me a while to notice because it was dirty and dimly lit, but there were a lot of unattractive women. I stopped going. ・〇ルファ〇ン There were relatively many beautiful women, but it felt more like I was there for a test of courage. I stopped going. ・A dinner gathering with four people—Black, Platinum, Gold, and Standard It takes a lot of effort to make all four people feel good. I was exhausted. ・Another papa made an offer to the woman I liked best. At first, I felt like I was going crazy, but now I don’t feel anything anymore. I learned how frightening it is to get used to things. ・A casino overseas It wasn’t really any different from just going about things normally. I didn’t feel anything in particular. Surprisingly, not much comes to mind. That’s about it. I’m looking forward to everyone’s comments. Leaf, I’m counting on you.
