I think it varies depending on the industry, company, and department. In finance, for example, people generally follow the regular holiday calendar, though some take their time off at different times.

I think it’s sometime between the 11th and 21st. I’ve heard that some places take time off on a rotating basis. At general hospitals, staff take their vacations in turn between July and October.

I’m Potassium, a female member trying to sneak away from overtime and enjoy my Friday night. Oh, wait—I work from home! I think it depends on the company and industry. At my company, there isn’t really a set Obon holiday, but people typically use paid leave to take about a week off around that time. Judging by the out-of-office messages from companies I contact for work, it seems like most people are off sometime from this week through around the end of next week, with a few taking time off into the following week. That said, schedules vary quite a bit depending on whether the company is B2B or B2C, and they also differed depending on whether it was a major company, a toxic workplace, or a good one. Hope that helps. This isn’t really something you can make a definitive argument about.
