This is papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan), right?
Most of the time, I imagine they’re not actually your type.
Are you, by any chance, a man who finds your papa (a male supporter) extremely attractive?
I know this sounds harsh, but some people will go with anyone if there’s an opening, so it’s best not to build it up too much in your head.

My type is someone I’m attracted to—whether she’s cute, beautiful, or both. I don’t really have a specific type to begin with. The celebrities I like and the women I’ve dated so far haven’t had much in common either. So I probably wouldn’t bring it up unless asked, but I might give the same kind of answer.

When I calmly look back on my own experiences, the statistics are roughly:
- Women who are genuinely my type: 3%
- Not my type, but conventionally attractive: 30%
- Maybe not by conventional standards, but I personally like them: 40%
- It was a tough situation, but I really hung in there—I deserve some credit: 27%
To give some specific examples:
- A woman who looked like Takashi Fujii but had a beautiful bust and a great personality? I was totally fine with her, and even saw her again.
- A woman who looked exactly like Wakahana, had a cold attitude, and rough skin? That was a no-go.
From a man’s perspective, you pay to be introduced, and then you pay to go through with it, right?
Once I’ve paid, I feel like I should at least take something away from the experience. And if I meet someone and then turn her down, that would feel rude to her too.
If we meet and she’s willing to go ahead, I probably wouldn’t refuse unless there was something seriously wrong.
I think male members understand the weight of the phrase “in for a penny, in for a pound” better than anyone.
So, is it really a bad thing that the percentage of women who are my type is so low?
In the spirit of the SDGs or something, shouldn’t I be getting a little more credit for this?

There are all kinds of types, after all.
Someone might be your type looks-wise, but not personality-wise…
Personally, I’ve always been into cute women and mostly dated that type, but these days, through the club, I mostly see beautiful women.
Your ideal look can change depending on your mood, but your preferred personality doesn’t change as much.
Also, I don’t expect women from the club to be my exact type personality-wise.

I think it means exactly what it says.
He probably has a certain type of woman in mind—someone around a certain height, with a particular kind of look—and you don’t fit that image. So, in that sense, you’re not his type.
But there’s something about you that makes him want to keep seeing you, whether it’s your personality or something else he likes about you.
When that’s the case, he’ll generally come to find you cute and endearing.
So I think he means that, while your appearance isn’t exactly his type, he likes the less tangible things about you—your personality, for example, or the fact that you’re someone he wants to see again.

Isn’t your type simply someone you fall for...?

I can, I guess\(^o^)/
They’re probably just saying something random because they can’t find the right words lol. I don’t think there’s really enough depth to psychoanalyze them lol.

Why can the person asking the question have sex and date a papa who isn’t their type? What’s going on psychologically?
Answer: Because it’s papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan), lol.
In my case, after doing this for five years, I start to get bored, so I offer to meet women of all different types as a new source of stimulation.
If I’m not conscious of it, I tend to gravitate toward my usual type.

There it is—the psychology angle.
But it’s not necessarily about psychology. Some women date people who simply aren’t their type.

I definitely think that happens.
Someone might usually prefer cute types but also fall for someone elegant, or vice versa.
Do they really have to be exactly your ideal type for you to be interested?
You’ll be happier in all sorts of ways if you keep your preferences a little broader.
