None of the papas I’ve met so far have wanted to use condoms. They say they don’t like them because they can’t feel as much or because it feels smaller. But I absolutely insist on using one because I don’t want to get pregnant or contract an STI. What do you all do?

It’s such an incredibly selfish excuse that it makes me feel sick. And when he proudly told me, “I’ve had a vasectomy!” I could only think, “Are you sick? Both your private parts and you…” In any case, it’s best not to get involved with someone who can’t show consideration for the other person. Akari

I don’t have much to add. That said, I suspect a significant number of papas secretly hope to “go without protection.” That’s why you should firmly insist that a condom be used. Start by asking gently, but if they won’t accept it, make your position clear.

I’m a defeated guy who joined the All-Japan Helmet-Wearing Association. I’ve spent the past two tumultuous weeks changing my policy to never go to a construction site with a woman who prefers going helmet-free. But drawing the line is difficult, isn’t it? Even oral sex can result in an STI, so kissing, cunnilingus, and blowjobs should all be off-limits too, right? Ugh, this isn’t fun at all... There was one upside, though. My dates with my ace—who keeps casually bringing up stories about friends getting STIs or relatives having shotgun weddings, pressuring me with, “You’re not seeing any other women, are you?”—have become incredibly relaxing. One side note: PJ women follow proper helmet-wearing etiquette, but women I meet outside the club are fairly careless about helmets. Maybe that’s why STIs are spreading. One more thing: Women at the regional branches have lower hair-removal rates, so I’m starting to look forward to making offers to women from rural areas. Sorry I’m always going off on unrelated tangents.

> I absolutely insist on using condoms because I don’t want to get pregnant or contract an STI. Be sure to make that clear to the men you meet. Some may not want to use condoms, but if there’s something you absolutely don’t want to do, you need to say no.

If you don’t want to, make an effort to say no firmly. If you choose to accept, be prepared and know what you’re getting into. Condoms aren’t completely foolproof as contraception, so personally, I think it’s better to take a low-dose birth control pill as well.

I’ve only ever met men who use protection as a matter of etiquette. I’ve heard there are men who don’t, so maybe I’ve just been lucky. Personally, going without a condom is absolutely out of the question, so if I ever encountered someone like that, I’d turn him down. There’s really nothing else to do but say no.

I always use protection, so there’s really no discussion to be had. It’s the other person’s fault for not using it, but if every papa you’ve met has been reluctant to use protection, there may be something about your behavior that’s attracting that type of person. It might be worth taking a moment to reflect on your own actions as well. Not everything can be resolved by simply blaming the other person. You also need to take responsibility for protecting yourself.

Using protection should be a given. But I know there are papas who don’t, and I also know there are women who end up allowing it anyway.

I just wear it without saying anything, so I can’t really say. You normally wear it, don’t you? So I assume most people aren’t told that very often.
