I’m not a staff member at Universe, but when I was young, I also thought about why I worked.
The answer I came up with was: “For the pride of being a taxpayer.” I wanted to pay taxes and hold my head high as a member of society.
The more money you earn, the more taxes you pay, allowing you to contribute more to society.
Of course, your own share increases too, but if that were the only reason, you’d simply be satisfying your desire for money. That wouldn’t answer the questions, “Why do people work?” and “What is the joy of working?”
The work itself may vary, but the meaning of working doesn’t change. We’re all keeping society running together.
