If he’s a new person, as staff member Maezawa said, I think it would be considerate to let him know briefly in advance through the staff!
If I were the man and hadn’t been told anything, I’d be a little surprised and concerned. I might also ask, “How did you end up getting that injury?”—just out of curiosity about what happened.
An injury to your face can really get you down, can’t it…
I once fell in the bath the day before an interview for a certification exam and cut the area beneath my eyebrow (笑).
I hope your injury heals quickly!

With a setting date, you’d normally go meet them unless something truly unavoidable comes up.
I once went to meet someone even though I had a fever (before COVID), and in that case, I just gave her the allowance and went home.
Because I don’t like how strict those restrictions are, these days I stick exclusively to letter dates.

In my case, if an injury had changed her so much that she looked like a completely different person, I might choose not to meet her again. But based on my experience with the three women I’ve actually met, that hasn’t happened so far.
For me, overall impression matters more than injuries—whether it seems like we could build a genuine relationship, whether I’d be good enough for her, and so on.
As for looks, there was one time when the photos and the person in real life just didn’t quite match. I told the club, “You’re really good at taking photos.”
Sure enough, a few days later, despite being in her mid-thirties, she threw stones at a guy over sixty and quit the club. The guy who got hit asked the club to find out why she’d done it, but since she had already quit, they couldn’t check. There was quite a commotion over it, haha.

I think it would be best to send the man a message through the staff first, something like:
“I’ve injured a noticeable part of my face, but I’d still like to meet you. Would it be okay if I came to the meeting place as planned?”
He may decide to cancel, and even if you do meet, he may choose not to see you a second time. That’s something to keep in mind as well.

It’s probably better to meet when you’re fully ready—you’ll avoid putting yourself at a disadvantage and won’t have to worry as much. About a week later would be preferable.
That said, if the first meeting has already been scheduled, it’s best not to change it. If the injury isn’t noticeable enough to bother you, then meeting as planned is probably the better option.
The man has already seen photos of you without the injury, so the injury itself is unlikely to change his impression much. What matters more is whether there’s a noticeable gap between your photos and how you look in person.

For a similar reason, someone once asked me to change our plans. In my case, we ended up never meeting.
At the very least, if you’re injured, I’d appreciate being told in advance. Hearing about it only after meeting gives me the impression that the person isn’t being honest.
By the way, if you have another question, I’d appreciate it if you could make it clear what you want to ask next time.
