Maezawa here.
You’re absolutely right. I agree with you.
Every now and then, some male members say to the staff, “The men are the ones paying, right?”
But would they still pay Universe if there were no women? I don’t think anyone would be eccentric enough to pay for a Universe with no women. They pay because the women are there.
And why do those women come to Universe? Because they can meet good people there.
So if a man insists that he’s the one paying simply to get his own way, and that ends up driving women away, I believe we have to refuse that.
Of course, if we catered only to the women’s opinions, the men would leave as well. And if there were no men at Universe, women wouldn’t come either—that would create another problem.
That’s why we operate by balancing the needs of both sides. At present, that balance is working, allowing Universe to continue increasing both its male and female membership. We’re right in the middle of steady growth.
> Apparently, there are several staff members who tell men something like, “This is just between us, but…” and give them a rough idea of the allowance amounts. That causes serious problems, so I’d like them to stop.
That is prohibited under our internal company rules.
So I’m curious who those staff members are. If we know the men’s names, we can identify which staff members interviewed them, so we can narrow it down quite a bit…
At the very least, they should be required to submit a written apology, and I believe they would be subject to disciplinary action for violating company rules.
In any case, it’s troubling to have people inside the company breaking the rules.
> To be honest, if you’re going to haggle over how much you spend on a mistress, wouldn’t it be better not to have one in the first place?
Exactly.
That said, men have many opportunities to negotiate as part of their work, so I think they naturally end up negotiating with women as well. To some extent, it may help to think, “That’s just how men are.”
However, I don’t think you can build a good relationship unless both sides are satisfied, so the basic rule is not to agree to something that neither you nor the other person is comfortable with.
The woman has her wishes, and the man has his. If those wishes align, they can have a good relationship. If they don’t, then their terms simply weren’t a match, and it would be best to part ways after dinner only.
If you’ve gone on dates with more than ten men, you’re probably a popular woman, so I’m sure you’ll have opportunities to meet some good men in the future.
