Since joining Universe this year, I’ve met three women twice each. One of them contacted me after our first date saying she wanted to see me again, so we had a second date. She’s also said she’d like to meet again, and we’re planning to see each other soon. With the other two, I was the one who invited them out after the first date, and we went on a second date, but we haven’t been in touch for over a month since then. Does the fact that they haven’t contacted me mean they weren’t interested for some reason? Should I stop reaching out, give up, and let them go?

Why are you pretending to be such a saint? (笑) You joined a dating club because you wanted to have some fun, right? Then be honest with yourself. That was the agreement you made with yourself when you joined. “Don’t be shy!” Be honest about your desires. I think the point of a dating club is finding a compromise between those desires and the other person’s feelings. Crime and breaking the rules are off-limits, of course, but aside from that, isn’t anything short of truly shameful behavior basically fair game? If you want to see her, just reach out. It doesn’t matter if several months have passed. You want to see her, don’t you? Just put those feelings into words. The real question is how to write it so it resonates, right? Some women will reply. On the other hand, I’ve also had women contact me after we’d lost touch for six months or even a year. That kind of thing is normal in this world. The odds aren’t especially high, of course, but relationships rekindled that way are precious. That said, if you’ve been blocked on LINE, it’s probably best not to call her. Personally, I think sending an SMS saying, “Thank you for everything,” is about the limit of what’s acceptable. I’m not saying I’ve actually done that myself. But naturally, you won’t get a reply. If you like him, contact him right away. That’s all there is to it.

If you’re both the type to wait for the other person, you’ll never meet. Go ahead and wait forever. Apparently, making someone wait gets into their head. Marika

I had assumed I wasn’t supposed to contact him first, and figured he might be busy with his personal life or work, so I didn’t reach out. But I’ve learned that if you want to see someone, it’s better to contact them sooner rather than later. So if you want to meet, I think it’s best to let go of the pride that says he should contact you first and simply tell him honestly that you’d like to see him. And if he still doesn’t reply, perhaps it’s best to take it as a sign that it wasn’t meant to be.

At my age, it’s a bit of a dilemma, but in this situation, I’d hope the woman I’m seeing would take the initiative! You may be better off looking elsewhere. I imagine quite a few women simply wait for offers.

Many women seem hesitant to reach out first. I sometimes hear them say they can’t message him because they worry he may not have liked them. In situations like this, I think men should be the ones to ask about the next meeting, even if it means risking embarrassment. If you want to see her again, it’s better for the man to make the invitation. If she doesn’t reply, take some time to reflect on whether you did anything during the date that may have put her off.

I think it’s best to wait for her to contact you. If you don’t hear from her after two or three weeks, it’s probably best to move on. Unless she was put off by something, she’ll likely get in touch within a week to ten days at the latest—or sooner, within a day or two, if she really liked you.

I feel like I’ve seen a similar question from a woman’s perspective before, but I think the person who’s more interested should simply reach out. That said, if you haven’t been in touch for over a month, it’s probably best to give up on this one.

If you wait for the woman to contact you, you’ll probably end up letting most of them go. It seems that many women prefer to wait for the man to reach out first. If you do contact her and she doesn’t reply, it’s probably best to just leave her alone.
