When I offer an allowance, several women have told me that the staff said, “Usually it’s ¥◯, and at minimum ¥◯.” Isn’t it a problem for them to say things like this just to get women to sign up? There’s no room for negotiation.

Maezawa here. The club never tells women how much their allowance should be. So I usually tell them to think it through carefully and tell the man an amount they won’t regret asking for. When they say they still don’t know and want us to tell them, we’re instructed to respond, “I’m sure you can find some information by searching online.” This time, you were told by the staff, “The usual amount is ¥〇, and the minimum is ¥〇.” I think she probably said it came from the staff because that would make it easier for her to negotiate. Women are at a disadvantage. Men generally have more life experience and have dealt with plenty of negotiations through work. So why would a skilled negotiator simply take what he’s told at face value? If her desired amount didn’t match yours, why not just release her and move on? That should be perfectly fine, shouldn’t it? Unless both people are satisfied with the arrangement, cracks will eventually appear. Even if you continue seeing each other while one of you is dissatisfied, it will likely end soon. There’s no need to force anything. If you feel you can afford her requested amount, then offering it could lead to an enjoyable long-term arrangement. I think the most important thing is for neither the man nor the woman to overextend themselves.
