Male members aren’t able to see whether other men have made offers to a woman.
That said, some men are curious about the number of offers, so we do get questions asking how many she has received. However, our internal policy is not to disclose the number of offers.
When someone asks a vague question like whether the number is high or low, though, staff may interpret the rule as, “We can’t give the exact number, but maybe we can say whether it’s a lot or not,” and end up answering vaguely, such as, “It’s not particularly high.”
Originally, this was prohibited because if we disclosed the number of offers, it could ruin the impression that a woman is—or is trying to be—the cute type who says, “You’re the only one.”
But now it’s being interpreted almost like a legal loophole: the internal rule prohibits stating the number of offers, but doesn’t prohibit saying whether it’s high or low.
That seems to stray from the original intent of the rule. At the same time, staff are sometimes pressed by men asking, “Why won’t you tell me?”—so in practice, they’re trying to respond without crossing the line.
